Note that like several wines reviewed above that my projected range assumes the underlying material is up to the job of successfully absorbing the wood treatment

but with a firm spine at its core that drives home the lengthy finish and strong varietal identity

The very rich and generously proportioned medium weight flavors possess a succulent mid-palate that contrasts somewhat with the textured and lingering finish where the supporting tannins are a bit raspy

This is notably fresher and much more floral as well with a lovely panoply of spice elements adding interest to the elegant pure essence of red berry fruit aromas

The vineyard is in Torroja where the soils are slate and for Dominik slate works better with Cariena, so he sources the Garnacha from elsewhere. The prodigious 2012 Les Manyes is an unusual single vineyard Garnacha from a 50 year old plot over the Montsant Mountains, in the Masdeu zone above the Scala Dei Monastery (not in Torroja at all!), where the soils are not
