The 2017 Bonnes Mares Grand Cru has a seriously compelling bouquet: beautifully defined, effortless and refined, featuring black rather than red fruit, crushed stone and discreet undergrowth aromas. The palate is medium bodied with grainy tannin. There is a stern backbone to this Bonnes Mares, which is stricter than many of its peers, the blue fruit clearly rationed, but with impressive persistence on the finish. Impressive and intellectual to boot.
