It was designed by Richard Seifert & Partners and completed in 1970. It is also known as the NLA Tower, the 50p Building, the Wedding Cake or the Threepenny bit building. Brutalism championed material honesty and expressed function through form. The bold concrete forms and subsequent dark pockets and shadows created are a signature look of brutalist structures. Print
