Small Sami-style Kniv Plate 5” diameter and 2 1/4”Gene Tokheim took his first knife making class at the Vesterheim Norwegian American Museum in 1986 with Hvard Bergland of Hamar, Norway. He studied Knife making as a special student at what is now the Telemark Folk Art Academy in 1989 and took more classes through the Vesterheim upon return to the US. He was in love with using birch, forged steel and leather to make a beautiful, useful tool. He has been making traditional Norwegian knives ever since,
