It is currently overseen by Sofia Thanisch, representing the 11th generation and the fourth woman to manage the estate. The name of the vineyard, Bernkasteler Badstube,is indeed named after historic communal bathhouses public bathing being imported as an idea by returning crusaders. The soil here, fine slate, makes for wines with racy acidity and great
