Alizarin Crimson Hue The Mint Gardener Custom Paint Makers Notes: Rowe’s GardenAlizarin Crimson is a rich red pigment with a cool undertone known for its wide range of colour mixing possibilities. The original hue of Alizarin came from the roots of the madder plant, and was used as a dye thousands of years before it was made into a lake pigment and named Alizarin Crimson. The original pigment is not considered lightfast however todays artist grade watercolours are made from permanent and stable synthetic alternatives. Artists
