Growing to around 8m tall by 6m wide at 10 years. It is best in partial to light shade, in acid to neutral soils, and grows well in reasonably drained soil. Notable for attractive brown bark. Reliably hardy across most of the UK. Holds an RHS Award of Garden Merit.
